A Pembroke woman who used threatening and abusive behaviour towards her bank manager and then in front of a father and his children, has been fined in court.
Thirty-three-year-old Lisa Roberts, of Colley Court, Monkton, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to using threatening or abusive words and behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard Jones told the court that the incident occurred when Mrs. Roberts visited her bank in Pembroke Dock on June 1.
“It was about 1 pm, and the defendant went to speak to her bank manager as there was a problem with her account. Mrs. Roberts wasn’t happy with the answers she was given and became very abusive towards the female bank manager, using totally unacceptable language.
“Mrs. Roberts was asked to leave, but she continued to use foul language on the premises and also abused a man who was there with his children who had asked her to stop swearing.”
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that there were ‘two sides to every story’ and that his client had become very ‘annoyed’ as she couldn’t access the money in her account, even though she had her card and ID with her.
“Unfortunately, things got out of hand. Mrs. Roberts suffers from bipolar disorder and things got on top of her, as a result she perhaps engaged her mouth before engaging her brain,” he said.
Magistrates fined Mrs. Roberts £55 for the offence and ordered her to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
