Angle RNLI lifeboat crew received heartfelt thanks after attending to two separate incidents on Tuesday, June 24, interrupting a refuelling exercise.

Shortly after launching on exercise to refuel at Neyland Marina, Angle Lifeboat was tasked at 1.19pm to the report of a child stuck on the cliff at Marloes Sands. Information was scant, but the coastguard had received a dropped 999 calling stating that a child was stuck.

The lifeboat immediately diverted and began making best speed to Marloes, and the crew arrived on scene and commenced a search 25 minutes later. Soon after, the crew located the casualty sat precariously on the cliff side around 25 metres up from the base. There were also members of the public attempting to reach the child.

Dale and St David’s Coastguard Teams were arriving on scene and were conned on to the casualty’s position. Whilst the teams set up for a technical rescue, the lifeboat stood by.

Moments later, at 2.09pm the crew were called to a position one mile south of the South Bishops, St David’s, where a 40ft motor cruiser was reported to be taking on water.

They arrived on scene just 17 minutes later and intercepted the vessel. Following a conversation with the vessel’s skipper, he confirmed that the water ingress had now abated and was believed to have been caused by poor sea conditions.

With the situation under control, the crew set about escorting the vessel to calmer water off North Haven, Skomer Island, where the vessels crew could begin to investigate the issue and pump out any remaining water.

The vessel was not taking any further water, so the lifeboat escorted the vessel to the safety of Milford Marina before continuing on to refuel. On the Angle RNLI Facebook page, the skipper praised the RNLI crews that had come to assist.
