Under 7s
Well! What a game for the Under 7s (seen above) to be involved in on a very wet and drizzly Saturday morning down at Neyland. The game was very end-to-end, with both teams scoring some brilliant goals.
The first quarter saw a goal from long distance from man-of-the-match Oliver Valavazquez and the second quarter saw Ben Thomas Lear on the scoresheet to bring the game to 2-2 at halfway point.
With the guys raring to go in the second half, Bobby Field-Thomas got on the scoresheet, with Oscar Lawrence scoring two in quick succession to bring the game to 5-4 to Tenby, going into the last quarter of the game.
Neyland put in a great performance, but Tenby managed to hold on to the lead and smiles all round the group. Well done!
Under 9s
Last week, Tenby Under 9s (seen above right) visited Merlins Bridge.
The first quarter was a tight affair, as expected when you play the ‘Wizards.’ Dylan gave the away side the lead, which was assisted by Bailey. Again like the previous match, Tenby’s opposition equalised before the break. The second quarter ended with no further additions to the scoreboard, even though it was end-to-end football.
The Seasiders played with an upside down triangle formation in midfield, with Lucas and Bailey excelling in the ‘holding’ role, giving added protection to the centre backs.
In the third period, Tenby seemed to play dream football. Dylan assisted Ethan Lewis to put the visitors in the lead, and shortly after Dylan added his second goal of the game from a corner.
Continuing with their ‘purple patch,’ Lucas had the opportunity to score his first goal of the season, which he took with amazing composure (just like a seasoned Premiership professional).
Jesse’s distribution from goal was outstanding all game, realising their were opportunities for counter-attacking football. A quick kick up the field by the visitors’ ’keeper found Ethan Lewis in a one-on-one situation, and with Ethan in such fine form, their was was only going to be one outcome, that being his second goal of the game.
In the final period, the ‘Wizards’ upped the pressure as they chased the game. Tyler, Louis, Bailey, Lucas and Thomas all played fantastically well in their defensive duties, with Thomas heading everything that came within his vicinity.
Merlins Bridge managed to claw two goals back, but the final score was 3-5, an away victory for Tenby. Great game to watch for the spectators, with football being the winner.
Tenby’s Evan, Dylan, and the two Ethans ran their socks off during the entirety of the match - great skills and work ethics lads!
In terms of the man-of-match, tough one as all played ever so well. The star player was Dylan as he scored two goals, assisted one and his performance was top drawer!
Team: Jesse Craig, Louis Rapi, Tyler Simpson, Thomas Strong, Bailey Joyce, Lucas Rhys-Davies (1). Evan Coleman, Dylan Sine (2), Ethan Wright, Ethan Lewis (2).
Under 12s
With three solid wins under their belts, Tenby Under 12s (seen below) played host to a strong Cosheston side last Saturday at the Clicketts.
From the kick-off, Tenby showed some excellent attacking play, creating a number of chances. However, the Cosheston ’keeper kept the scoresheet clean, until the first goal came from Iiori a few minutes into the first half.
Tenby were 2-0 up when the defence was found to be open and Cosheston took their chance to gain one back.
With end to end football, it was the Tenby side who regained control of the game and more goals followed throughout the first half.
The second half found Tenby dominant, with the Cosheston team unable to breakthrough the strong defence. Tenby spread the ball wide to the wings and with excellent accurate passes created some lovely finishes.
The final score 19-1 to Tenby. Goals from Max (6), Iori (5), Leon (1), Jack (2), Morgan (2), Archie (1), Dylan K (1) (og). Keep up the good work boys.
Tenby U16s 3
Prendergast Villa 2
With early rain clearing, Tenby U16s managed to get their Pembrokeshire League tie against Prendergast Villa underway last Saturday.
Tenby started strongly, testing the Villa defence continuously, hitting the post twice and seeing numerous chances go begging. Villa then stunned the home side by going a goal up against the run of play.
This lead didn’t last long, though, with the Seasiders levelling thanks to a thunderbolt from striker Jamie Bartlett.
Tenby were ahead by halftime, thanks to the ever-reliable Rhys Morgan, burying his shot home from the penalty spot.
The second half was very tense, with Prendy equalising, and having a lot of the ball.
Tenby stood firm, though, and with just minutes to go earned themselves a free-kick. Dylan Evans whipped it in, and defender Dylan Jones got the last touch to score Tenby’s winner, maintaining their 100 per cent league record.
Another home game this Saturday, with Monkton Swifts the visitors to The Clicketts, kick-off 11 am. Come down and support the future first team of Tenby AFC.
