Tenby and District Pool League finals night got underway with the Doubles Cup final, Marc Thomas/Tom James (Kilgetty Buffs club) v Mark Davies/Aaron Roberts. There was a very good start from Marc and Tom taking a 3-0 lead playing outstanding pool, but losing the next frame, they then won the fifth frame winning 4-1.

The Captain’s Cup saw last year’s defending champion Mark Davies (Bowling Club) play Steffan Hopley (Swan Lake), with defending champion Mark Davies taking a 2-0 lead, then Steffan coming back to 2-2. Both players were playing well, with the defending champion taking the next two frames to retain his captain’s cup for a second year in a row. Can anyone beat the Tenby league captain winner?

Next saw the triples shield Tony Thomas, Adam Joseph, Rob Day (Kilgetty Buffs Club) v Mark Nally, Dean Thomas and John Grover (Greenhill Hotel), with Greenhill making a impressive 4-0 head start in the race, first to five, then a incredible comeback from Kilgetty Buffs Club boys coming back to 4-4, with Tony Thomas v John Grover in the deciding frame, seeing a close match by both players. Tony Thomas sealed a five frame comeback to win the triples shield.

Next saw two very impressive Under 21 cup players, Tom James (Kilgetty Buffs Club) v Tomi Williams (Greenbridge), with all matches being very close. Former Under 21s winner Tom James won 3-0 to hold the trophy for a second time.

The main event - singles cup final best of seven frames was next, Phil Lewis (Temple Bar) v Dean Thomas, both first timers in the cup final. Dean took the first frame, Phil then made an impressive two frames and went 2-1 up. With both players inform, Dean took the next two to go 3-2 up, with Phil having every thing to do. Phil played out of his skin taking the next two frames to win his first singles title!

The team knockout final saw Kilgetty Buffs Club v SSSC, with Marc Thomas, Kilgetty Buffs, taking the first frame, then SSSC hitting right back with Joe Dennis taking the next frame 1-1. Next saw Rob Day and Tony Thomas winning the next two frames in a row to take a commanding 3-1 lead, but with SSSC not backing down, Roger Stanford and Dewin taking the next two frames to level the match at 3-3. Next saw the doubles matches with Marc Thomas/Tom James, Kilgetty Buffs, taking a close first doubles going 4-3 up, then Mike Dobbs and Tony Thomas sealed the second double to win the team knockout title 5-3!
