Very well done folks on a great weekend of racing - Tour of Pembrokeshire Cycle Sportive: The Tour of Pembrokeshire was centred at Crug Glas Country House Hotel near St. Davids. This was the 11th Tour of Pembrokeshire. As the UK’s only coastal national park, there were country roads (especially as there was a royal wedding taking place!), very challenging climbs and swooping descents or at sea enjoying the scenery, flora and wildlife. It is all breathtaking. Feed stations were stocked with some delicious delights! A very tough, but fun day at the office for our 25 members taking part on three routes: The Paul Ties 107-miler - Julie Andrasko 8.25, Stephanie Waring 8.25, Anto. O’Hara 8.29, Tom Beck 7.01, Colin Barrett 7.44, Daniel Belli 8.30, John Hubbard 8.25, David Lewis 8.25, Mat Greener 7.44, Nick Logan 8.29, Paul Slack 8.25, Pat Swann 6.37, Jessie Davies 10.36. Ironman Barcelona 70.3: Simon Stanford five hours 37 minutes. The swim was a one-loop in the Mediterranean Sea that starts and finishes on the beach of Calella. Known for its beautiful location at the Costa del Maresme and its distinctive lighthouse landmark, Calella is renowned as a tourism and sport hotspot. The 90 km bike heads inland on closed roads before returning to the transition area on the beach. The two-loop run heads along the coast to a turnaround at Pineda. Simon says bike course hilly and technical, but enjoyed it!
Slateman Classic Triathlon in Llanberis:?Claire Thomas in 3.53 and John Parker 3.49 who also did Saturday’s Slatemen Sabage Sprint Triathlon in 1.46. Also well done to John’s wife Ann who did the Slateman Duathlon on Saturday. The Slateman Classic route comprises a 1,000m open water swim in the lake at Llanberis surrounded by Mountains, 51km road ride on amazing mountain roads, and an 11k trail run through the incredible ‘steep’ Llanberis slate quarries. The sprint distance, equally as mind blowing, distances are 400m swim, 20k bike and 6k run, and new for 2018 a Sprint Duathlon race.
Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10km run: Pete, Elizabeth and Megan Williams. Meg in a brill time 44 minutes and Joe Williams did the 2km run. Set in the shadow of the spectacular Caerphilly Castle, the race started and finished on Crescent Road. Runners had the opportunity to run a good time on a relatively flat course with some undulating points. Around the town centre, passing iconic landmarks including the giant cheese sculpture and Tommy Cooper statue along the way and offering great views of the medieval castle, which dominates as the stunning backdrop to the event.
