Ho, ho, ho! As the countdown to Christmas begins, members took part in festive events last weekend.
Well done to those Aces who swapped their new bobble hats for Santa hats and took part in Saturday’s Santa Run in Tenby, Ceire Merrison, Will Lewis, Colin and Seren Barrett, Mat Greener and Richards family, while Sunday saw Kara Ellard successfully complete the hilly Broadhaven Christmas pudding 10k in 53 minutes!
Prior to that, there was an early Christmas present for teenager Lily Rice who was presented with a £250 cheque and a special Aces hoodie. Back in September, 13-year-old Lily, who hails from Manorbier, performed a backflip in her wheelchair, becoming the first European woman to do so. This brilliant feat qualified her to go to California in March next year for the world wheelchair motocross championships. Lily suffers from hereditary apastic paraplegia which causes ridigity and tightness in the muscles of her lower limbs. The Aces are delighted to donate to help her on her trip.
Lily is seen receiving her cheque from members, but it is believed a strong contender for her title could be our very own Nicola Coates, also pictured in her new wheels, after she fractured a bone in her ankle during a training session and is now in plaster.
Don’t forget folks, the festive spirit continues with the club’s Christmas do taking place on Sunday, from 3 pm, at the Giltar Hotel. Trophies will be presented in the bar first and we will be sitting down for a late Christmas lunch at 4.30 pm approximately. Please let Nicola know if you would like to attend!
