Well done Aces for the past weekend’s events.
Junior go-tri series at Maindy Centre, Cardiff: Teaghan and Eddie Waring. Teaghan coming first in her age group and Eddie third (representing Just Tri Club), swim 100m, bike 1.3 miles and 800m run.
Bristol centre Grand Prix Criterium: Lee Walker. A very fast, exciting race around Bristol city centre on a 1.3km figure of eight course with tight bends. You ride for 40 minutes ‘warm up,’ then race for three laps.
Merlin 105-mile sportive: Anto O’Hara Stephanie Waring, Paul Slack, Steven Amos, Tom Beck, Jamie Silvester, Gareth Rees and Richard Gardiner. Starting near Carmarthen riding through the Brecon National Park taking in Usk Reservoir and the notorious Devil’s Staircase - this is a 1.3 km uphill switchback stretch of 12 per cent rising to 25 per cent!
Caldey to Tenby 2.7-mile approx swim: Hayden Johns (first swimmer back only because he used my turbo buoy - saying that, it doesn’t work for me!), Andy Adamson, Iain Rich, Donna Bradley, Lauren Johns, Richard Day, also well done to Peter Brace, Alexandra Merrony and Sarah Hempenstall who swim with us.
Cheque presentation: The sum of £600 was raised over the summer by the club for the Withybush Hospital cancer day care unit. Aces member Nicole Ferguson presented the cheque to haemato-oncology nurse Jan Bower, along with staff nurse Jenny and Sister Gina Beard, lead cancer nurse for Hywel Dda.
