Good luck to Tenby United Youth who will take on Resolven RFC at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff on Saturday, in the final of the WRU Youth Bowl, in what is sure to be a memorable occasion for all involved. Kick off is at 11 am.

The Seasiders reached the final after beating Pentyrch Youth 47 -14 in the semi final in March. The side’s captain Wil Swales said: “To captain this Tenby team in my final year of youth rugby has been a privilege and an honour that I will never forget.

“After a lot of hard work from the whole squad it is a pleasure to say that we will be playing our final game of the season in the Principality Stadium with the chance to win the National Youth Bowl.

“It is bound to be an excellent occasion, and for several members of the squad, this will mark their final game of youth rugby.

“In the build up to this match there have been some excellent displays of rugby including an outstanding win over Pentyrch in the semi final. The whole playing squad deserves massive amounts of credit for such performances as they are a reflection of the effort and commitment that has been put in throughout the season.

“With so much strength in depth in this team, the future of Tenby rugby is bright.

“On behalf of myself and all my teammates, I would like to say a special thank you to our coaches, Richard, Leon and Guto. Their time, effort and personal sacrifice has resulted in a hugely successful season. It is down to our coaches that Tenby now has one of the biggest and strongest teams that the town has seen in many years.

“We cannot fail to thank Julia and Lisa, without whom our team would simply not be able to function due to the amount of hard work they put in on a weekly basis.

“The continued support of our family and friends has been immense this season, and I hope that we can produce an exciting game of rugby for you on this coming Saturday. Good luck to all involved!” he added.

Coach Richard Rossiter said: “After a lot of hard work last season when first starting up the youth team, the players, coaching and management team are now seeing their hard work pay off.

“Last season the young Seasiders faced some tough games, but managing to win a lot of matches and also lift the Pembs playoff bowl cup. It turned out to be a successful season. This season the players have performed really well; we have a huge squad of 38 players not only showing outstanding commitment in training and playing on match days but also being great ambassadors of the club before and after matches, winning eight league games they eventually finished 2nd in the league.

“The National Youth Bowl started with a home tie against Milford and the result was a 50-0 win for Tenby, the next round saw St Clears giving Tenby a walkover. Round 3 saw a long trip north to Mold with the Seasiders running out comfortable winners by 57-3.

“A trip to the capital for a quarter final clash with Llanishen was next up and this game couldn’t of been any closer with Tenby sneaking through 17-16. The hugely anticipated semi final game against a tough Pentrych side was held at Gowerton RFC and the Seasiders set up the dream trip to play at the Principality Stadium Cardiff tomorrow by beating Pentyrch 47-14.

The opponents in the final are Resolven Youth and they are expected to be a very good side. If the young Seasiders bring their A game then maybe they could be bringing the silverware back to Pembrokeshire.

“The future looks bright for Tenby United RFC with this crop of players with no fewer than 10 boys playing for the 1st team this season. The club, town and surrounding area can be proud of the boys achievements this season.

“A big thank you to team manager Julia (foghorn) Gooding for all her hard work in organising fixtures, first aid, kit, buses etc the list goes on and my beautiful wife Lisa for her sterling work with the media and public relations.

“On a personal note Leon, Guto and myself as coaches have thoroughly enjoyed the season, it’s been a blast on and off the field. The boys are a credit to their families,” he added.
