Llangwm RFC 7 pts.

Pembroke Dock Harlequins 55

The Quins, for the second successive week, came away with a fine bonus point win over a Llangwm side that fought to the end and never gave up.

After absorbing early Wasps pressure, the Quins opened the scoring when fullback Paul Jonkers raced over in the corner for his first try of the season, after 10 minutes.

Outside-half Lewis Davies missed the difficult conversion, but five minutes later the Quins were at it again when centre Thomas Doyle continued where he left off the previous week by touching down near the uprights.

Davies popped over the conversion this time to put the Quins 12 points to the good.

The visitors were now putting pressure on their hosts, with prop Dean Wilcox leading from the front with some powerful bursts.

Jonkers soon grabbed his second try which was superbly converted from wide out by Davies.

With the Quins 19 points up, the Wasps hit back with a penalty try after an obstruction. Kieran Walkden added the extras to bring the score back to 19-7.

It was imperative that if the Wasps wanted to stay in the game they had to score next, but it was the Quins who hit back immediately when number eight Barry Parsons powered over.

Davies added the extras to send his side in at the break with a 26-7 lead and the all-important bonus point.

The Quins started the second half on the front foot and it was not long before they crossed the Wasps line again, when Doyle took a fine weighted pass from co-centre Jake Griffiths to grab his second try.

Davies missed the conversion, but the outside-half soon made amends when he scored a fine try after a strong run. although he failed to convert the extras again.

With a 36-7 lead, the Quins were now out of sight, and prop James Gardener, who has been one of the finds of the season, added to the scoring when he grabbed his first try for the club after a quickly taken tap penalty ,which was also the Quins’ 50th of the season.

They added two more tries as the match drew to a close through outstanding flanker Stefan Halward and Doyle, who completed his hat-trick.

Davies converted both to end the match with 15 points, which was the same haul he had in the home fixture back in October.
