Llanelli
Wanderers 42 pts. Tenby United 8
Struggling Tenby United must be wondering when they are going to register their first win of the season.
They have come close on a number of occasions, but Saturday’s game against Llanelli Wanderers wasn’t one of them, as they went down heavily, with little reward to show for their efforts.
Indeed, the Seasiders have now lost all seven of their opening matches in this year’s Division One West campaign, having picked up just four league points in the process.
It’s a record which sees them firmly rooted at the bottom of the table, with only Loughor, two points ahead, keeping them company as the remainder stretch away.
Saturday dawned wet, windy and miserable, with several sporting fixtures falling foul of the far from pleasant conditions.
The weather did improve as the day went on, with the sun at last breaking through, but on the pitch it was the Wanderers who shone brightest as the United failed to lift the gloom with their display.
In fact, the Seasiders had no real answer to the power of their opponents, who bagged five tries on their way to a comfortable victory. The touchdowns came courtesy of Rhydian Morgan (2), Dan Nicholson and Rob Hughes, along with a penalty try.
Steff Marshall also amassed a personal tally of 17 points as he banged over four conversions and three penalties.
Tenby’s only replies came via a drop goal from outside-half Tom Lewis and a try by winger Jordan Asparassa, which went unconverted.
The United will be hoping for a change of fortunes and will be looking to kickstart their season into gear when they entertain Waunarlwydd at Heywood Lane tomorrow (Saturday), kick-off 2.30 pm. Why not go along and cheer on the boys. Your suppoprt would be appreciated.
