Tenby Swifts recently held their 11th annual presentation night at Folly Farm theatre.
An audience of over 500 players, coaches, managers, parents, committee members and volunteers filled the theatre to celebrate this successful season.
Matthew Evans, chairman of the rugby club, and Rachel Grieve, junior chairperson, compared the evening with style and finesse.
On stage with them was Dom Booth - a former Swifts player who recently played for Wales U18s, and plays for the Scarlets U18s; and Ryan Foot, originally from Fishguard, a member of the Welsh deaf rugby 7s squad who won the world championship in Australia last month.
These two talented men presented the players with their trophies, and are an inspiration to every Swift player who was in the audience.
Having had an hour to experience the fun and thrills that Folly Farm fair offers, everyone congregated in the theatre.
The evening began with each team, from the Under 7s to the Under 17s, being invited on stage and presented with awards to celebrate this season.
Three trophies were given to each team for the spectator’s player, player’s player and most improved player.
We recognised and congratulated our many county players and we presented Jake Roberts and Alex Wainwright with official photographs, as they have played for the Scarlets U16s team. The Oliver Cavill award was given to Jake Roberts, the Daniel Burrows award to Jake Henson and the Ollie Morgan award to the Under 15s, who are Pembrokeshire champions, and have been four times in the past five years.
This was also an evening to celebrate the three teams who reached the final in the Pembrokeshire cup this year: the Under 10s, who were runners-up to Crymych; the Under 12s - who have won the Pembrokeshire cup four years in a row; and the successful Under 15s - who have also won the cup for four years.
The U12s and U15s played competitively in Parc Y Scarlets, in the Scarlets finals day, a week later. Tenby United are very proud of all of these players.
During the evening, the volunteers were thanked for their time and hard work.
There is a huge team of at least 50 volunteers who help make this club the success that it is.
If you would like to join this team, please contact Rachel on 07977 431512.
The successful evening ended with a buffet and refreshments in the bar, for everyone to enjoy.
The Swifts players, parents, volunteers and committee would like to say a huge thanks to Folly Farm for allowing us to use their venue for this special occasion.
It really is a great way to celebrate the season!
Thank you Folly Farm.
