Under 11s
Tenby Swifts Under 11s welcomed rivals and last year’s finalists, Haverfordwest. Tenby, captained by Evan Christian, were on a winning streak and were looking to continue their top form.
After some early offence from Haverfordwest, Tenby’s hooker Iestyn turned the ball over in the scrum and some quick hands from half-backs Ethan and Madoc saw Rhys Barnes go over for the first try, 5-0.
An excellent kick-off from Madoc put the visitors under pressure and Rhys struck again quickly for his second try; Ethan L converted the extra points, 12-0.
Haverfordwest managed to gather themselves and went on the offence again; however, Tenby’s well-drilled defence was watertight and kept the attack at bay, with some excellent rucking from Oli T and Will Day seeing the ball back in the hands of the Swifts.
The pack worked hard to gain metres, with Thomas, Iestyn, Will Day and Jayden linking up and supporting each other, Ethan L linked the backs into the play and Logan went on a thundering crash ball run, found a gap and scored the third try and converted the extra points, 19-0.
Tenby really found their groove and the rugby was fast and flowing between the forwards and backs. Iestyn turned over a second scrum and a blindside run from Rhys saw him go over for his hat-trick. Evan C secured the conversion, 26-0.
The tries came in thick and fast, with Logan getting his second of the day and Evan C, Tyler and Oli T all scoring one apiece, Madoc also kicking two more points.
Haverfordwest struck and converted as the final whistle blew, ending the game 48-7.
Special mention to Spencer Odley for making his Swifts debut.
Man of the match went to Will Day, who was everywhere on the field, made some important tackles and was solid in the rucks.

UNDER 12s
Last Sunday, Tenby Under 12s had a home fixture against a strong St. Clears team. From the first whistle, St. Clears came at the Seasiders with wave after wave of pressure and this was quickly rewarded with a breakaway try down the touchline to put the first points of the morning on the board, 0-7.
The battle at the breakdown was fierce and when a penalty was awarded to the home team for St. Clears playing the ball on the floor, Tenby took the opportunity to push forward. Determined runs from Owen and Sophie saw play move up into the St. Clears half. The away team defended their line well, but after several phases, the Seasiders finally broke through, with Sophie crashing over.
The score now stood at 7-5 to St Clears.
A strong run by Seren from the kick-off bought the Seasiders quickly back in the away team’s half and the forwards kept the pressure on, holding St. Clears in their 22. But when presented the opportunity with a loose ball, St. Clears picked up and took off down the field, with only a well-timed tackle by Jayden stopping them from scoring.
Tenby found themselves pinned in their own half and defending their line. But a stolen ball in the breakdown and quick pick up by Rhys saw him take possession out of Tenby’s half and a well-timed offload to Alfie W saw the pressure relieved and had the score stay at 5-7 going in to half-time.
The second period started with both teams wanting to get the first score of the half. Forced mistakes by both sides saw the ball change hands a number of times, but it was St. Clears who crossed first to extend the lead to 12-5.
This was quickly followed by another try for the away team and with momentum well and truly with St. Clears they had themselves a 19-5 lead.
Tenby didn’t allow their heads to drop. Their work rate was impressive, with some big tackles going in to make sure St. Clears didn’t score another, and when Jayden spotted a gap in the visitors’ defence, he crossed in the corner for Tenby’s second try and have the score now at 10-19.
This try was quickly followed by another for the home team, a strong run up field by Rhys helping to create the space for Jack to cross, closing the gap to 15-19.
From the kick-off, Tenby pushed forward and put St. Clears on their line to defend once again. When a five-metre scrum was awarded to Tenby, a pick-up by Lewis saw him cross for try four and put the Seasiders in the lead for the first time, 20-19.
With the clock counting down, St. Clears threw everything they could at Tenby in an effort to gain the win. They moved the ball quickly and tried to create some space, but a try-saving tackle by Liam saw the final attack blocked and Tenby come away with a 20-19 win.
Man of the match was awarded to Rhys.
