Tenby Swifts Under 9s

On Sunday Tenby Swifts Under 9s welcomed Whitland to the Clickets.

At 10 am all the teams, including coaches and managers, stood together for a minute silence to show respect for Gareth Scotcher who sadly passed away last week.

It was a hard game playing a good Whitland side, with some good hard tackles and great passing. Tenby under 9s won 7-5.

Try scorers: Sonny, Harry, Aidan, Jack and Callum K.

Tenby team: Raph, Oscar, Ace, Jack, Aidan, Harry, Evan, Sonny, Ollie, Callum K and Jake. Well done boys.

Under 7s

This Sunday, after respectfully observing a minute’s silence in honour of Gareth Scotcher, Tenby Swifts Under 7s took to the field to play the travelling Whitland team.

The rain at the start of the match did not dampen Tenby’s spirits, again proving that they are keen to progress week on week.

There was excellent tagging and solid running yet again from all the players.

Tenby notched up another win, scoring 13 tries to Whitland’s 11.

Man of the match went to Leo Werner for his amazing use of the side-step!

Team: Caitlyn Lewis, Bradley Rossiter, Leo Werner, Jevan Guymer, Jude Christen, Dylan Drewett, Craig Roberts, Ethan Brace.

Tries: Leo (2), Jude (3), Craig (3), Ethan (5).

Under 13s

Last weekend saw Tenby Swifts Under 13s travel to Whitland to play a combined Whitland-Laugharne side. These two sides have had some close tussles over the last few years and this encounter was to prove no different.

By kick-off time the rain had stopped, but conditions of the pitch were very wet and muddy which made it tough for both sides to play open attacking rugby.

The Swifts did begin very brightly and early tries by Kyle and Dylan gave them the start the coaches were looking for. But the home team began to exert their own pressure on the game and a converted try brought the score back to 12-7. They tried their best to take the lead but the Swifts defence held firm with a super team effort by all 15 players.

As the half drew to a close, a fine planned move saw a break from their own half and the impressive Cairan crossed under the posts for a converted try to leave the half-time score 17-7 to the Swifts.

The second half got underway with the Swifts making a number of changes and as the pitch condition got heavier it proved a real tussle within the two forward packs.

Two tries by Iori were cancelled out by two of their own by the home team as the young Seasiders maintained their lead.

Early season fitness training certainly helped the Swifts maintain the tempo of the game and they finished the stronger, with Fletcher crossing by sliding through the mud for the last try of the game.

The Swifts’ coaches were pleased with the effort put in by all the squad resulting in a fine away win in tough conditions by 34 points to 19.

Team pictured was Josh, Iori B, Cairan, Ollie, Alex, Iorri R, Max H, Max J, Miller, Corey, Tristan, Fletcher, Dylan, Cameron, Jake, Will P, Ethan, Kyle, Will A and Duane-Lee
