Last weekend saw Tenby Swifts Under 12s play against a touring team from Wexford, in Ireland. The game was in some doubt following the return of snowy conditions overnight and early morning, but the pitch passed an inspection, much to the appreciation of the travelling team and supporters.

With slightly different rules at this age group, the away team found it difficult to match the organisation and skills of the young Swifts and a number of fine tries were scored by the home side throughout the game.

Despite this, the away support (buoyed by the Ireland men’s team winning the Grand Slam the previous day) were in a joyful mood, but despite all their efforts to score a try, could not break down the solid home defence.

An excellent team performance played in good spirits by both sets of players, with encouraging debuts in the ‘Red and Black colours’ for William and Tom.
