A new pitch will help train ‘sports superstars of the future’ councillors said as the green light was given by a planning committee.

Pembrokeshire College will use the new pitch and has applied to replace the existing grass of the seconds team pitch with a 3G artificial multi-sport pitch.

The majority of users will come by minibus from the college a planning report states.

The plan demonstrates “excellent partnership working” said Clr. David Pugh at the planning committee meeting on Tuesday, July 31.

Clr. Brian Hall added: “This is a fantastic facility for Narberth Rugby Club, the premier club in Pembrokeshire.”

He said that improvements to the pitch would give more chances for young people to “realise a dream to play for Wales.”

The plans also include re-profiling ground levels, fencing, spectator canopy over a new footpath, moving the existing floodlights and adding new surface water drainage.
