During Welsh week at St. Oswald’s School, Jeffreyston, seven Sixth Form pupils from Greenhill School gave up their day to coach rugby to children from three to 11-years-old, under the watchful eye of Aled Waters.
The young pupils thoroughly enjoyed this experience and were inspired by their role-models. These Sixth Formers all play rugby regularly for school, Tenby United Under 17s and the Youth team, and two of them are ex-pupils of the school. So thank you, boys, for volunteering your time!
St. Oswald’s School was also grateful for a visit from Mrs. Sally Hunt, who shared her cookery skills with the children, and made over 150 Welsh cakes with them for all to enjoy!
The pupils of St. Oswalds participated in a huge variety of Welsh activities during the week. These included ‘Dragon Drive’, Bingo, dressing up as a Welsh character, inflatable disco and darts, lessons in Welsh, and finally, the Eisteddfod. Huge congratulations to all the children who took part and diolch to Mr. and Mrs. Harry for giving up their time to carry out the difficult job of adjudicating.
