The Quins pulled off a fine bonus point win at Pill Parks on Saturday, which will hopefully give their young side a lift before they tackle their remaining four league fixtures.

It was the Wasps who were first out of the blocks when outside-half Luke Hayman sent a 30-yard penalty soaring between the Quins’ posts after just three minutes.

The Quins though hit back just 10 minutes later when scrum-half Adam Cawley, playing on permit from Neyland, squeezed over in the corner for a unconverted try to put the Quins 3-5 in front.

For the next 30 minutes, it was a real test of stamina in the heavy conditions as both sides gave it their all.

On 34 minutes, the Wasps struck when number eight Josh Hicks stormed through the Quins’ defence and raced in from fully 35 yards to touch down under the posts, much to the delight of the Llangwm faithful, who were ecstatic as he touched down.

Hayman converted to send the Wasps in 10-5 ahead at the break.

Whatever was said to the Quins at half-time certainly did the trick, as they scored three tries in the opening eight minutes.

First Aaron Cookson crossed close to the posts virtually straight from the restart, which was converted by centre Thomas Doyle, then just two minutes later, the Quins’ captain grabbed his eighth try of the season, which went unconverted, after a fine kick ahead by left winger Rhys Bradney, who then for good measure scored a fine try himself, rounding off another Quins attack.

Doyle converted to give the Quins a 10-24 lead, and then 20 minutes later it became the Adam Cawley show, as first he took a quick tap penalty and squeezed over wide out.

He failed to convert his own try, but soon put that right when he completed his hat-trick of tries as he punished the tiring Wasps defence, and this time made no mistake with the conversion.

Just as the game was going into injury time, fullback James Skeels finished off another fine move, touching down for an unconverted try out wide to send the Quins home with the spoils.

It must also be said the co-operation from other Pembrokeshire clubs was much appreciated by both teams in enabling both teams to put out a XV.
