Whitland 59 pts Amman United 12
Whitland maintained their push for promotion with a comfortable win over visiting Amman United on Saturday.
With the Borderers currently lying second in the division two west table and Amman struggling at the bottom, a victory was always expected for the Parc Llwyn Ty Gwyn outfit.
But, although confident, there was no way they were going to take their visitors lightly and were keen to make sure that they bagged a maximum points haul in their fight for the silverware.
And they were soon well on their way to achieving that, as by half-time they had opened up a healthy 28 points to five advantage.
Even then, they didn’t take their foot off the gas and they continued to pile up the points after the break, as in all they chalked up no fewer than nine tries.
Crossing for touchdowns were wingers Liam Price and Sean Coles, wing forward Dan Edwards, second row Ben Kirk, centre Jonathan Thomas, fullback Aron Ebsworth, replacement hooker Marc Jones and outside-half Nico Setaro, who also landed seven conversions for good measure.
In response, Amman, could only add another seven points to their total with a second half converted try.
The victory keeps Whitland in second place, five points behind leaders Hendy, but with the advantage of two games in hand. The two are also due to meet each other in May in what could well be a title decider.
