History was made in Kilgetty over the weekend as 14-year-old Harry Phillips hit his maiden senior century for the Kingsmoor outfit's second team against leaders Camrose and Spittal. Not only did his innings help the home side leapfrog the visitors in the table, he became the club's youngest ever centurion in senior cricket, proving they have a dynamic bunch of youngsters able to make their mark in the senior game. In total he hit 132 not out striking four 6s and 14 fours in the club's 230-6, with Peter Hall adding 26 and Paul Parkinson 25. Jason Webb then took 4-8 to help bowl the away side out for 62 to record a 168-run win. If Phillips was smiling in Kilgetty, then Jonathan Thomas was doing the same at Whitland after he hit his second league century of the season when the Borderers made hay on a perfect batting strip at home against St. Ishmaels. The young all-rounder struck 14 fours and one 6 in his innings of 105 not out to become the first player in division one to hit a brace of centuries this campaign. Opening bat Ed John also came close to raising his bat for a landmark innings, but was dismissed for 94 having hit 11 fours and a six, although he did share a third wicket stand of 183 with Thomas, to leave the visiting fielders wilting in the heat. The day didn't start too well, however, as they lost Dylan Blain with the score on one and Paul Davies (26) soon after, but the epic stand put them in a good position to win the game. Tish certainly put up a fight as they closed on 227-7, with Scott Newton the pick of the attack taking 5-61. Highest innings of the division went to Narberth's Kyle Quartermaine who showed no respect towards Carew's bowlers in his swashbuckling 138 not out.
