Whitland's Paul Davies can lay claim to being the tallest batsman in the first division and possibly one of the most stylish and after his heroic innings against Narberth on Saturday he can also lay claim to having scored the first century of the season. The left-handed number three helped his team reach 184-9 against their rivals setting up a win in the process with a sparkling 100 not out, despite Kyle Quartermaine and Jordan Howells taking three wickets apiece. Iestyn Scourfield was also in the runs for the Borderers with a belligerent 33 and showed his all-round prowess by taking 4-31 in the away team's reply of 151 all out. David Dunfee steamed in to take a brace of wickets in a fiery opening burst, while Mark Lee's good early season form continued with a three-wicket haul. For Narberth, Sam Mills scored 26, as did Marc Hughes ,while Richie Adams hit 19 in Narberth's faltering reply. Lawrenny had a sobering day at home as they were crushed by eight wickets against Haverfordwest. The Town's bowlers made regular inroads into the home team's batting, with Steve Lewis providing the only threat with a typically aggressive 56. In reply, Simon Holiday remained unbeaten on 48 at the close with Ben Field hitting 36. After last week's close encounter against Cresselly, Llanrhian came up against their rivals Carew this week, with the result going with the home side. Although the defeat wasn't quite as close as last week, they still made Carew toil for the win as they chased down 167 after Rob Scourfield took 4-20. James Hinchliffe led the way in the run chase, hitting 45 not out, with other contributions from Rhys Davies (20), Tom Davies (35) and Tom Scourfield 21. Cresselly entertained current champions Neyland, who again showed their class with a comprehensive seven-wicket win. The visitors bowled the home team out for 137, with Matthew Morgan hitting 52 and Nielsen Cole 22, before knocking the runs off with ease as Greg Miller struck 59 not out. Steven Jenkins took 2-46 for the home team. Saundersfoot, meanwhile, had a day to forget at St. Ishmaels as they were skittled out for 47 and lost by eight wickets. The day was just as bad for Whitland's second team as they lost by nine wickets at Burton. Batting first, Whitland could only muster 115-8 in their innings, with Wayne Jones's 45 being the only highlight. Burton romped to victory for the loss of just one wicket after Rob Griffiths struck an unbeaten 54 and Toby Hayman 31 not out. Carew seconds lost miserably at Johnston as the home side scored 220 all out after Iori Hicks took 5-33. Newly promoted Llechryd had a chastened experience at the hands of Cresselly seconds, losing by 10 wickets after being bundled out for 49. Tom Murphy roared in to take 6-7 to help skittle the home side, before Harry Thomas struck 29 in the winning reply. It took Pembroke 52 overs to pass Haverfordwest seconds' 102 all out after the home side were dismissed in the 35th over of their innings. The recent rain made the pitch so slow that boundaries were few and far between, although bowling was easier for the visiting bowlers, as Jonathan Rogers took 3-39 and Lewys Wilkes 3-35. Paul White hit 31 in the reply and Rogers 29 not out as they lost six wickets in reaching their target. The first weekend produced two close finishes at Haverfordwest and Llanrhian in the first division, yet those games were eclipsed as Narberth seconds and Crymych tied at the Lewis Lloyd ground after both teams finished 93 all out. Owen Richards struck 30 for the home side and Mike Johns 12 as Andrew Thomas took 4-17. In reply, Lewis Hough took 4-14 and Nicky Evans 2-23 after Osian Wyn's 27 and Sam Kurtz's 24 almost saw Crymych home Kilgetty eased to their first victory of the season with a 10-wicket win at Neyland seconds. Neyland batted first and scored 121-9, with Jack Parkinson and Kurtis Marsh taking two wickets each. In reply, Jake Marsh hit 87 not out and Kurtis Marsh 29 not out, showing why they will be one of the teams to beat in division three this season. Fifty-three from Peter McGilloway and 22 from Haydn Cole helped Lamphey reach 163-9 at Herbrandston, who were skittled out for 89 in reply. David Blackwell belied his veteran status to bowl quickly in taking two wickets, with young Scott Brunton also taking two wickets with his away swingers. Hywel Gibbs and skipper Stephen Vale snared three victims apiece in the win, which places them top of the table after two games. It was a day to forget for Pembroke Dock seconds as they were bowled out for 60 at Camrose and Spittal who passed the total for the loss of two wickets, while Stackpole won by nine wickets at Saundersfoot seconds who were all out for 107. Chris Parker hit 50 for the home side as Greg Thompson and Jonathan Willington both took two wickets, but a brilliant 83 not out for Josh Davies saw the visitors home. Only two games were played in division four as player unavailability saw Carew thirds' game against Hook seconds called off and the same fate fell on Llangwm against Herbrandston seconds. Fishguard's home game was called off as the County executive deemed the pitch unfit. Hundleton took to the field and beat Burton seconds by 65 runs after Scott Richards struck 30 and Mark Williams 34 in their 133 all out, while 6-17 from Paul Edwards saw them bowl out the opposition for 68. In division five, Narberth third team's home game against Cresselly thirds was abandoned. Pembroke Dock seconds drew with Hundleton seconds as Hundleton scored 208-4, with Riaan Strydom scoring 93 and Tim Phillips 37.
