Former Greenhill School pupil Ollie Wheeler, who is now studying at Pembrokeshire College, has just been though two trials days for the selection process for GB Colleges Hockey.

In the first trials in Southampton in October there were 75-plus players from the South and Ollie was put forward for the final trials which were held in Cannock last Friday.

It was a gruelling trials day, with 40-plus players from around the UK looking to progress into the 2018/2019 squad. Ollie impressed and has been selected for the GB Colleges squad for 2018/2019.

Ollie’s selection is even more pleasing with most of the final trialists being from Hockey Academy colleges and Ollie being the only non-English player in the squad!

To cap his good news, Ollie has also been invited to join the Senior Welsh Hockey Programme and next weekend will also be training with the U21s indoor squad.
