Sunday, July 24, saw a group of clay pigeon shots and a group of non-shots take part in the annual Keith Smith memorial shoot.

This event has taken place for the past nine years to mark the untimely parting of our great friend, husband, father and grandfather.

Keith was gamekeeper for Hean Castle Estate, Saundersfoot.

The shoot was held at The Jeffreyston Inn shooting ground and we’d like to thank them for their continued support in letting us use the ground and traps.

Following the shoot, which most people described as ‘damp,’ everyone headed to the Kilgetty Sports and Social Club for a BBQ and refreshments.

Many thanks to Paul Heywood for the burgers etc. We are indebted once again to everyone who supplied raffle prizes, sold tickets, cooked, made salads etc, also the guys for setting up the ground and running a successful shoot, you all know who you are.

As is customary, Keith’s sons Gavin and Grant captained a team each, with Gavin’s team coming out on top this year. Gavin also came out as ‘Top Shot,’ with an impressive 28/30, which was fine shooting in the very wet conditions - his words not mine. Lucky Heywood was away on a Welsh qualifier, that’s what I say.

A total of £350 was raised on the the day, this being donated to the family of Dan Willington, another dear friend tragically gone this year.

Once again, thank you to everybody who helped make this a success.

TO, on behalf of Gail, Gavin and Grant
