A?local rower set to represent Great Britian in the ‘World Coastal Rowing Championships’ to be held in Canada next month, is hoping that local sponsorship can help her and fellow team members from Pembrokeshire gain victory.
Twenty-five-year-old Tyenne Morgan of Saundersfoot is a member of the Towy Boat Club team, who last month, along with other members from the Pembrokeshire area, ventured to Poole, Dorset to participate in the British Rowing Offshore Championships (BROC).
“Throughout the season we have entered many races, from the local Celtic league to the Swedish Open, however for this event, BROC presented the unique opportunity for the top five crews in each race category to represent Great Britain for the World Coastal Championships in Victoria, Canada,” she explained.
“This was an opportunity we, as local Pembrokeshire rowers could not pass up!
“The weekend we spent at BROC was mentally and physically challenging. The weather conditions gave us rough water conditions for each race, making the 6km course difficult to manoeuvre around, this accompanied with a high standard of competition, made for tough races.
“At the end of the weekend, some of our crews came away disappointed, not having gained the qualification spot that they wanted, however, seven ladies came away with a GBR ranking, including two crews finishing the weekend on“ the podium.
We are now in the position where we have the opportunity to represent Great Britain in coastal sculling in Canada from October 11 to 14 2018 - but as you can imagine, there is a significant cost that comes along with this.
“As this is an unfunded sport, this is the amount we are looking to raise £9,912 for all crews, which totals £1,416 per person.
“By giving your support, we would like to promote your business by placing an advertisement in our brochure that will get distributed between fellow rowers, supporters, family, and friends, and other local businesses.
“We would also like to promote you on our Facebook page where we will be posting updates and blogs for supporters at home,” she continued.
