Having narrowly beaten Haverfordwest Golf Club at home six weeks previously, Tenby GC were convincingly defeated in the reverse fixture last Saturday.

The parkland course at Haverfordwest was generally in an excellent overall condition although, despite very heavy overnight rain, the ground was hard and the greens unreceptive.

Luke Harries and Darren Thomas found the experience of former home pro Alex Pile and his partner Calum MacDougall too much and went down in three and two.

Ben Childs and Neil Thomas fought hard, but eventually fell two and one to young Abe Forsyth and Robin Ellis.

Jon Bolter and Gary McNeilly were well-ahead early on, but the home pair of Alan Webster and Josh Davies clawed back for a honourable half.

Similarly, Spencer Harries and Mike Davies were in front for much of their game, but eventually lost on the last to Mark Owen and Clive Frankton.

Paul Jenkins and Chris Beecher were always behind against Robin Potter and Richard Williams losing three and two.

Steve Sutcliffe maintained his form. This time his partner was John Stenson and they beat Simon Harries and Nathan Proctor by two and one.

Loz Phillips and Ian Thomas never quite matched Aled Davies and Matthew Clark before succumbing three and one.

Martin Morris and Dai Cope had a bad day, both losing their 100 per cent records and the game to Garry Morgan and Steve Allen by five and four.

In the last game, Tenby gained a consolation win when Roger Schooling and Steve Maytum beat Prakash Kanse and Simon Gough two and one.

Consequently, Tenby lost the match by 6.5 points to 2.5, the same score as at Garnant Park the previous week.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the Tenby team play their third consecutive away match in the Dyfed League at Glynhir. However, yesterday (Thursday) evening they played a tough quarter-final of the Jeff Harries Bowl at Milford Haven.
