The Seasiders played two games over the Christmas and New Year period. Both games were against fellow seaside opposition.
First up, they faced Seaside United from Llanelli in a return friendly. From the off Tenby looked stronger and soon they took the lead with a lovely through ball from Callum Karaka to Dylan Morgan who duly slotted it past the Llanelli ’keeper.
They continued to play some great stuff and number two soon came, this time Archie Smith turning provider with a great ball in for Dylan to get number two.
The homesters are a strong outfit and soon they pulled a goal back.
Tenby continued to push and probe and furthered their lead with a lovely finish by Joe Evans. Charlie Gregory then stood and watched his shot saved. Iori Humpries was at the heart of a good deal of the action with some great running and distribution.
Half-time came and saw the Seasiders 4-1 up.
In the second half, Joe Evans witnessed his shot hit the bar and soon Llanelli got back into the game with a lovely goal.
Rhys was called on again with a great save, before the homesters got another to get the score within a goal.
Minutes were running out, though, and it was to end 4-3 to Tenby with yet another excellent save from the Tenby ’keeper.
The seaside theme continued with an away visit to Fishguard. No pressure was expected here. The game from the start was basically how many could be scored and they came from all over the park. Dylan Morgan and Jack Jones both bagged lovely hat-tricks, Joe Evans, Archie Smith, Kurt Sarrionandia and Joe Evans all got a brace, and others ame fromCharlie Gregory, Iori Humpries, William Malone and an own goal.
But wait a minute, someone is missing! Who is it? Yes, the ever dependable defender Callum Karaka also had his say in the result.
Fishguard did manage a consolation goal which made the final score 17-1. So another convincing victory for Tenby Under 15s. A 100 per cent win rate and looking stronger game by game.
Top Joe’s man of the match against Fishguard was the dynamo Will Malone (pictured).
Next game is away to Milford United.
Tenby AFC Under 7s
A great start to 2019 for Tenby AFC Under 7s, on a cold Saturday morning down the Clicketts, when they took on Milford United.
It was a close start to the game, with both sides evenly matched, but as the game went on, Tenby showed their quality with some great football and managed to get a few goals.
The game ended 9-2 to Tenby.?Well done to everyone and thanks to the parents for giving up their time.
A special mention to Bobby Field-Thomas for winning man-of-the-match.
Tenby Under 13s
Down to the last 16 in the West Wales Cup, Tenby played host to Mumbles Rangers on Saturday at the Clicketts. It was also coach Angie Nicholls’s 60th birthday.
It’s always nerve-racking playing a team you have no knowledge of and, therefore, the boys knew they had to play strong straight from the off. And with a large contingent of supporters from Mumbles, they knew it wasn’t going to be an easy ride.
It was obvious from the kick-off that the Tenby boys had met their match, and a tough task lay ahead. The game was fairly even, with both teams playing some excellent football.
Both teams missed chances and some excellent saves were made by both ’keepers.
Midway through the first half, Mumbles created the first goal with some accurate attacking play.
Tenby fought hard to keep position and just before half-time Max found the back of the net to level the score.
With the interval score 1-1, the Tenby boys knew they couldn’t give Mumbles any opportunities and, despite being broken in defence a few times, they hung on to that same 1-1 score at the end of full-time.
After a few minutes rest and a good talking to from the coaches, it was a nervous start to extra-time.
Good efforts from both sides still couldn’t break the deadlock until Tenby found themselves in trouble at the back and Mumbles were awarded a penalty. Luck must have been on Tenby’s side, though, as the penalty was missed.
With only a few minutes to go, Tenby were on the attack and Max managed to get his foot on the ball and found the back of the net, 2-1 to Tenby.
Clinging on and with many a nervous onlooker, those last few minutes seemed to go on forever, but the final whistle eventually sounded and Tenby celebrated with much relief. It was a great game of football to watch and was played in good spirit.
After the game, the boys celebrated their win and Angie’s birthday by presenting her with a birthday cake and the club gave her a Brighton and Hove Albion shirt. She was also most surprised by an unknown visit from her daughter who had been watching the game, unnoticed by the focused coach.
Down to the last eight - good luck boys. League fixture this coming weekend against Camrose.
Team: Kyle, Jak, George, TJ, Taine, Jack, Iori, Morgan, Dylan, Max (2), Corey, Leon, Ethan, Will, Lewis
