The penultimate game of the season saw the Seasiders Under 14s at home against Milford Haven United.
Before the kick-off, there was the important business of being presented with the league cup by Steve Briers, chairman of the Pembrokeshire Football League.
Down to the game and the lads started strong, so it was no surprise when the excellent Jack Jones bagged number one for the day, soon doubled by the lefty take em on Archie Smith.
The lads were playing some tidy stuff and continued to play as a team as the next goal witnessed. Kurt Sarrionandia picked up the ball ,played it through to Dylan Morgan, who turned provider for Jack Jones for his second of the day.
Indeed, it was the rocket Dylan Morgan who then turned provider for the best in the left, Archie Smith, for his second of the day and number four.
The tricky Kurt Sarrionandia bagged goal number five with a lovely solo run. So on the half-time whistle the lads were well ahead.
Credit to the Milford boys, though, they didn’t fold, but kept on battling and Rhys Mansell, in goal, had to be sharp on a few occasions at the start of the second half.
But soon the boys went further ahead, courtesy of a fine run and great finish for Jack Jones to get yet another hat-trick for the year.
Number seven soon materialised and yet another hat-trick, this time for Archie Smith.
The boys continued to push forward, with the engine Iori Humpries going on one of his jollies and the tricky Charlie’s, Gregory and Phillips, trying to get number eight, but who else should get it but the quality that is Joe Evans.
A reasonably decent performance, two boys on a hat-trick, but one wanted more than three, and it was that Jonsey again who got another for what must be now considered a ‘Jack Trick’.
Just one match to go when the Seasiders travel to Fishguard for what should be a full house of points for the season. Well done boys, Dewi and Phil for excellent coaching, Neil Humpries for the lino and the excellent photos from Gemma Jones.
Cup final glory for U12s
A large crowd gathered at Marble Hall in Milford on Saturday for the eagerly-awaited Under 12s Pembrokeshire Cup Final.
Having lost the league title at the last moment, the Tenby team ) were keen to finish the season on high, but they knew that this would be a tough game, with St. Clears having finished a place below them in the league.
With the sun shining, match officials in place, the boys were keen to get the game started.
With both teams anxious to put their stamp on proceedings, the game saw the ball go from end to end. The solid defence of George and Jack at the rear didn’t allow St. Clears any room and soon Tenby were able to create chances and the first goal soon followed from Max.
Jack, still struggling from injury, was replaced by Archie, who did his best to contain the St. Clears quick runners.
The ball bought through via Iori in mid ield led to Morgan having space on the wing, and an accurate cross led to a second goal for Max.
Two goals up, the Tenby boys settled down into better passing, strong running and solid defence. Halfway through the second half and playing up hill into the wind, Iori was able to make the lead 3-0.
St. Clears not wanting to let the game get away from them created their own chances and scored two in quick succession, much to the delight of the traveling crowd.
The half-time score at 3-2 put St. Clears back in the game and high in confidence.
With a strong team talk from Angie, and now playing downhill with the wind behind them, Tenby made some great breaks down the wing, causing the St. Clears defence problems, Toby took his chance and the scoreline increased.
Tenby, now full of confidence, created more chances which led to Max’s third goal of the game. More strong attacking play came soon after and Dylan took his chance and increased the score by one more.
It’s been a trait of Tenby’s this year not to sit back, and even with a solid lead the boys kept the pressure on and Toby soon increased the score again.
Now leading 7-2, some of the boys were able to take a break and were replaced by Corey, Ethan and Cas.
With fresh legs on the pitch, the momentum continued and during the last few minutes of the game, Max made the score 8-2.
The final whistle went with the boys relieved and over the moon to be crowned cup winers.
Team: Kyle, Archie, Jack, George, Iori (1), Morgan, Toby (2), Dylan (1), Max (4), Ethan, Corey, Cas and Leon.
The boys raised the cup in appreciation to Angie Nicholls, coach, and to the delight of their supporters. Well done boys.
