Pembrokeshire College Level 3 Business student, Fraser Finlay, has been chosen to play for the Welsh Colleges Under 19s football squad.

Having played football for both Tenby and Haverfordwest first teams, Fraser joined the college’s Sports Academy so that he could continue to develop his sporting skills alongside his studies.

Fraser commented: “I have the best of both worlds at college as I have been able to play football with the college’s Sports Academy in between classes.”

Fraser’s first match will see him play the Australian National Schools team on January 18 on UWIC’s 3G pitch in Cardiff.

“I’m looking forward to the match, but I’m sure I’ll be nervous on the day!” he said.

Pembrokeshire College’s football coach, Steve Briers, was thrilled with Fraser’s selection.

“This is a just reward after his impeccable performance,” he said. “He’s a talented left side player, but is equally comfortable playing both attacking and defensive roles. We’re all really pleased that he’s gained the attention of the Welsh Colleges selectors.”
