Pembrokeshire football played second fiddle to the weather over the weekend as Friday’s deluge caused havoc with the local football calendar.

This time last year, there was so much rain leading to cancellations that the league had hundreds of games to catch up on; this year, it appears most clubs are ahead of the game.

Some matches were able to go ahead, with Angle having to travel to Goodwick as Phoenix Park was deemed playable. Angle’s trip was in vain. They lost 4-1.

Merlins Bridge’s game against Milford United was abandoned after 62 minutes, while the Wizards’ seconds were at Manorbier United playing against Saundersfoot Sports in the semi-final of the second division cup. The Wizards won 1-0.

In division two, Hakin United seconds had Nicky Woodrow in their ranks and he scored a hat-trick in their 4-2 win at Fishguard Sports, while Phil Cole got Lawrenny’s first on their 3-0 win at Letterston. Joe Kidney grabbed the other two.

Solva lost 4-3 at home to St. Ishmaels, while there was great news for St. Clears as they hammered Goodwick United seconds 9-2. Josh Jones led the way, scoring four, with the other goals coming from Jon Seely with a brace and solitary strikes from Nathan Evans, Jon Thomas and Sean Seymour Davies.

Meanwhile in division four, West Dragon’s reserves beat Fishguard Sports’ seconds 5-4.
