Narberth’s topsy turvy season continued on Saturday as the Bluebirds finished on a high to complete their third win of the season.
Milford United were the visitors to Jesse Road and they played a part in the seven goal thriller, yet went down 4-3 as Tony Evans netted all four for the hosts.
With just one win to show from their opening five games, Carew would have been looking to secure some much-needed points away at Angle, but it was the home team that ran out winners. The hosts won 2-1 in the Jean and Terry Elkin sponsored clash, with Jake Seaton and Connor Willis scoring. Ceri Brace nipped in for Carew’s goal.
Lamphey travelled to Goodwick, but it wasn’t a happy afternoon for the Stags as they lost 2-0, while Tenby travelled to bottom placed Pennar Robins. Any hopes the Seasiders had of gaining full points at Bush Camp were thwarted by a dogged performance by the hosts as they drew 2-2. Craig Asparassa and Luke Hendry scored for the hosts, whose match sponsor was Simtech, with Sam Christopher netting twice for Tenby.
It was a miserable afternoon for Monkton Swifts as they lost 4-1 to Neyland, with David Stanley scoring the home team’s only goal.
In division two, St. Clears went down to yet another defeat, although considering they were struggling to field 11 players (for both sides not just the firsts), there are mitigating circumstances. Steve Holland latched on to one to poke home for the visitors’ solitary strike, but Clarbeston Road ran out comfortable 4-1 winners.
Saundersfoot Sports lost 7-2 at Hakin United seconds, with Hundleton scoring three away at Herbrandston, but conceding six, a result that sees them stay third from bottom.
A Matthew Lewis goal helped Lawrenny to a 1-0 win at home to Goodwick United.
In division three, Julian Blewitt struck twice for Pendine alongside scores for Sam Cole, Daniel White and a Ricky Hunt hat-trick to ensure the Gulls ran out 7-0 winners at Milford Athletic, while Narberth seconds had an afternoon to forget going down 8-0 at Milford United seconds.
A Thomas Arthur goal helped Carew seconds to a 1-1 draw at home to Clarbie Road reserves, while it was all square, too, between Manorbier United and Pennar Robins’ seconds. The hosts will be hoping the Parsonage Inn sponsor some more games this winter as the game finished 4-4, following two goals apiece from Jacob Webster and Mike Ryder. For Pennar, the ageless Wayne Brunton nipped in for a score, before goals from Carl Rees, Phil Thompson and Geraint Blair.
Despite struggling for players like their first team, St. Clears’ seconds should have claimed the points on offer against Herbrandston reserves as they led for the majority of the game through a Joe Gouldingay. A poor final 15 minutes did for the hosts, however, as they finally went down 3-1.
In The Bush Tavern sponsored clash between Lamphey seconds and West Dragons’ seconds, the game finished 2-1 to the visitors following an Andrew Evans strike for the hosts, while in the game between Neyland seconds and Angle reserves, the win went with Angle as they won 4-2.
Despite competing in the Ironman the week before, Craig Turner summoned enough energy to score for Pennar thirds at Pembroke Boro, yet the Robins went down 5-1 after two goals from Phil John, Paul Sharp, Rhys Allison and Andy Martin.
Fifteen goals were scored in the game between St. Florence and St. Ishmaels’ seconds, which must have been a true spectacle for all watching. The points went with St Florence, however, as they prevailed 10-5 after three from Ashley Smith, two each from Lewis Desforges and Phil Evans and one apiece by Liam Bowen, Will Thomas and an own goal courtesy of the visitors.
Meanwhile, in division five, Kilgetty seconds ran out 6-2 winners at home over Milford Athletic seconds to secure their third win in four matches. Duanne Rossiter was the star of the show for the hosts by slamming in four goals, with the others coming from Jac Waters and Carl Gwyther.
Simon Cole scored for Lawrenny seconds in their 7-1 defeat at Broad Haven seconds, while despite Mark Flaherty’s hat-trick for Carew thirds against Camrose seconds, the game finished 3-3.
Goals by Tom Hay, Jonathan Hay and Sam Blunsden allowed Hundleton seconds to complete a 3-0 win at home against Milford United thirds.
Victory, too, for Monkton Swifts’ seconds as they won 4-1 at Letterston, while it was a narrow defeat for Pembroke Boro reserves after they lost 5-4 at Llangwm seconds.
