Pembrokeshire’s footballers were able to dust down their boots and stretch out their legs in a near full programme of games for the first time in weeks. Many teams haven’t played for two months or so, yet the weather relented enough for all but six games to go ahead.

Narberth were at home to Milford United and came away with a fine 3-2 victory despite the heavy conditions underfoot playing havoc with their free-flowing style. Dylan Blain got the first, before Dorian Davies and Jordan Williams got in on the act to secure the points, while St. Clears travelled to Pennar and their rustiness showed as they went down 5-3. Sean Seymour-Davies once again caught the eye with the first of his team’s goals, before Owain Evans’s brace gave the visitors hope, although it wasn’t enough in the end. Richard Hughes and Phil Thompson both finished with two goals to their name and Adam Cole the one as they eased to victory in the Zero’s Men’s Hairdressers clash.

Carew’s start to 2016 didn’t go as they would have hoped as they lost 5-1 at Goodwick United, although their goal did come from a Goodwick player, so maybe their luck is on the turn.

It was a good start to the year for Tenby, however, as they eased to a 3-0 win at home over Angle thanks to goals from Jordan Richards, Sam Christopher and Jack Christopher.

The second round of the second division cup was able to be played and it proved to be a colossal clash between Fishguard Sports and their counterparts from Saundersfoot. Fishguard came out 5-4 winners as the visitors’ goals were scored by Richard Cope, Geoff Marsh, George Taylor and Dan Storer.

Monkton Swifts are through courtesy of a 3-1 away win at Solva thanks to goals by Tom Meiring, Ben Nicholas and Ryan Griffiths, while in league action, Hundleton got the year off to a bad start losing 2-0 at home to St. Ishmaels, while Lawrenny lost 1-0 at home to Goodwick United seconds.

In division three, Narberth seconds went to Hubberston and came away with a 3-1 win as Nick Jones, Simon Cole and Richard Scourfield all scored, while Kilgetty’s home game against Johnston seconds was postponed, as was Carew seconds’ home game with Hakin United seconds.

A brace of goals by Stuart Tyrie and one by Wayne Boswell were enough for Cosheston Cougars to overcome Merlins Bridge seconds in the BJJ sponsored game, while Pennar Robins’ seconds beat Milford United seconds 4-0 thanks to a Grant Overend hat-trick and a solitary strike by Steven James.

The game of the day was at Saundersfoot where the home team’s seconds drew 4-4 with Manorbier United. Jack Franklyn scored twice for the hosts, with the others coming from Matthew Webb and Johnny Harries, while the visitors’ goals were scored by Mike Ryder, Jake Webster, Joe McKeown and Charlie Patchell.

In division four, Pendine too were forced to postpone their game with Fishguard Sports’ seconds, while St. Clears’ seconds had a fabulous win at home over Solva seconds, winning 6-2. Andy McCabe scored twice for the Saints, with the other goals coming from, Mark Snelling, Steve Trivett, Harri John and Craig Holland.

Craig Brockway scored twice and Jake Seaton once for Angle seconds, yet their goals were not enough to see their side over the line against Prendergast Villa after the game ended 3-3.

Carew thirds, meanwhile, lost 3-0 at Llangwm.

As for Pennar Robins’ thirds, they had a 2-1 win at Milford Athletic after goals by Jack Sullivan and Marco Valentine, while St. Florence lost to Neyland seconds 2-1; Lewis Deforges scoring the visitors’ only goal.

In division five, Lawrenny seconds’ game at Broad Haven was postponed, while Lamphey seconds had an epic clash at home to Hundleton seconds as they prevailed 7-3. Anthony Webb scored four, Jake Campbell two and Richard Williams the other for the Stags, while for Hundleton, their goals were scored by Sean Newberry (2) and Lee Brazier. The match was sponsored by the Royal George, Pembroke.

Monkton Swifts’ seconds drew 1-1 at home to Milford United’s thirds, with Liam Stapleton scoring for the Swifts, while the game between Pembroke Boro seconds and Llangwm seconds was postponed.

Tenby seconds came out on top at West Dragons seconds, winning 3-2, but Narberth thirds’ game at St. Ishmaels’ seconds was postponed.
