Carew went into their West Wales Intermediate Cup semi-final clash on Tuesday night full of confidence, with two wins on the bounce and plenty of goals in both, but a disastrous start against Goodwick put paid to any hopes of them appearing at the Liberty Stadium this season.

They may have gone down 4-0 at the neutral Bridge Meadow ground at Haverfordwest, but they certainly didn’t disgrace themselves.

Disappointing, yes, but they certainly gave a good account of themselves, only being denied a couple of goals in the second half by some quality defending and goalkeeping.

They were 2-0 down within minutes of the game starting and 3-0 down at the break and, while Alex Bailey and Jack Christopher had chances in the second half, they were denied with the game being put to bed with a fourth goal late in the match.

Had the Rooks started the game as they finished on Saturday they would have had few problems after putting Narberth to the sword, winning 4-1.

Scott Ferney and Jordan Richards scored for the hosts, with Ferney finishing with three, while Chris Brown netted for the Bluebirds.

Pennar Robins travelled to Clarbeston Road and came away with nothing to show after going down 3-2 following goals by Connor Roberts and Luke Phillips, while Angle had a day to forget, losing 11-0 at Hakin United.

A better day for Lamphey, though, with a 2-1 win over Milford United following goals by Jason Evans and Mike Davies.

An even better day for Monkton Swifts as they hammered West Dragons 5-0 thanks to three goals from Patrick McDonagh and two from James Russell.

In division two, Hundleton went down 2-0 at Letterston, while St. Clears hammered Prendergast Villa 6-0.

Two goals by Geoff Marsh and one by Chris Milwards helped Saundersfoot Sports overcome Llangwm 3-1, while in division three, Manorbier United went down 6-3 at Camrose despite a brace of goals by Jay Kennedy and one from Jake Webster.

Carew seconds drew 0-0 with Narberth seconds, while Pembroke Boro beat Clarbeston Road seconds 6-0 after a brace by Jordan Wright and one each from Jake Campbell, Carl Morris, Brandon Williamson and Joe WIlliamson.

The game between Pendine and Broad Haven was postponed.

Pennar seconds beat Goodwick United seconds 3-2, but it was an unhappy day for St. Florence after they lost 6-0 at home against Milford United seconds.

In the first round of the fourth division cup, Pennar Robins’ thirds beat Kilgetty seconds 2-1, while in league action, Angle seconds failed to raise a side at home against Herbrandston.

The game between Broad Haven seconds and St. Clears’ seconds was postponed.

Monkton Swifts’ seconds beat St Ishmaels’ seconds 5-2.

In the fifth division cup, five goals by Connor Hay, two by Sam Blunsden and one from Sam Sharp helped Monkton Swifts to an 8-1 win at home against Letterston seconds, while Carew thirds failed to raise a side for their game at Milford United thirds.

In league action, Lawrenny seconds went down 7-0 at home to Cosheston, while Saundersfoot Sports’ seconds were unable to raise a side for their fixture at Milford Athletic seconds.
