The season break is upon us, a good indication then of where teams lie in the 2018-19 Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League and it’s shaping up to be a decent season.
In years gone by, most people would have been able to predict who was going to win what and they could place money down with certainty regarding which teams would go down, but this season is slightly different, especially in division one.
While Goodwick are the front runners, Monkton and Carew are pushing them close (and of course Merlins Bridge and Hakin have only played eight games apiece, so you can’t discount them either) and Carew maintained their excellent form with an 8-0 victory over Loughor Rovers in the West Wales Cup.
Carew are good, but it’s unlikely Loughor would have realised just how good before they cut the visitors to shreds.
Lloyd Hughes was the star, scoring four goals, with Jordan Richards netting three and Scott Ferney the other.
Monkton on the other hand had a little blip against Merlins Bridge, losing 3-0.
In division one, Narberth won their fourth game of the season, winning 5-2 at home against Herbrandston, the goals coming from Jordan Williams, Ben John, Lewis Bansall, Mark Jones and Shane Walsh.
A win for St Clears, too, beating Saundersfoot 2-1, the goals coming from Johnny Thomas and Jon Seeley.
While Saturday saw some interesting games, a host of others were not played due to postponements.
Hundleton’s game at Llangwm/H’west CC fell foul, as did Kilgetty’s at Tish, but Lawrenny were able to travel to Solva, only to get blown away by the hosts, losing 3-1.
Joe Cox was on fire for St Clears seconds, scoring twice in their division three clash at Milford United seconds, while Carew seconds beat Monkton seconds 9-1.
Narberth seconds at Pembroke Boro was postponed as was Pendine’s game at home against Goodwick United.
A good result for Pennar Robins’ seconds, however, winning 5-0 at home against Milford United seconds, with the goals coming from Connor Wills, Rhys Sture, Rhys Lucas, Marcus Blair and Jake Clarke.
St Florence were on form, too, beating Solva seconds 7-1 thanks to four goals from Jay Kennedy and one each from Ashley Smith, Lewis Deforges and Owen Bateman.
All games in division four and five were postponed
