Saundersfoot Sports Club (sponsored by LG Leisure) played host to the Manchester Club from Milford Haven on Monday evening in their latest league match, and were 3-2 winners.
Manchester Club were also their opponents last week, in the second leg of the Knockout Cup, and defeated Saundersfoot by 80 points aggregate score over two legs.
The first frame saw captain Glyn Davies play Viv Price (again!). Both players were in fine form, potting well and executing good safety, but agonisingly Glyn succumbed to a black ball defeat again (unlucky).
The second frame saw Martin Durham play Jamie Greenish. Martin started the stronger, opening up a good early lead, but this was dramatically reduced by his opponent during two good visits and then the Milford man managed to sneak ahead himself by nine points.
By the colours, Martin had again dragged it back and was only one adrift in what was turning out to be a very close frame, with both players playing good safety on the colours. Eventually, though, it was Martin who bagged the win as he potted the decisive black... with the rest (shock!).
The third frame saw Dave Wooles play Jason Davies. Dave started the better, opening up a small early lead, only for his opponent to claw his way back into it. Dave continued to pot some good balls to lead by eight points mid-frame, but by the colours this was down to five. It was now anybody’s game, but Dave held his nerve to eventually win on the pink.
The fourth frame saw Darren Morgan play Brett John. Darren started brilliantly, opening up a solid lead early on. This kept getting better, as he kept potting well, and he went on to win comfortably in the end.
The final frame saw Steve Barlow play Adrian Mathias. Steve started the brighter, opening up a small lead, but it wasn’t to be as he succumbed to a good potter.
