St. Florence travelled to Fishguard with their Under 12s and 14s for the final game of the season.

Under 12s

St. Florence Under 12s ( seen above) started the game on top of the league by only goal difference, with Narberth on the same points playing their last game of the season in Camrose.

Having gone the whole season without losing a game, St. Florence wanted to finish with another win and hope that it would be enough to win the league.

The game started with St. Florence on the attack and Fishguard defending with a lot of defenders, making it difficult for the Saints to score. The breakthrough came when Teigan forced the ball over the line after a great pass from Fiona.

The second goal came almost straightaway, with Alex scoring after being set up by Mabli. Teigan got her second of the game with a well-taken goal.

With Fishguard having so many players in defence, Connie decided to shoot from further out when she was given some space and her great shot hit the net, making it four-nil at half-time.

With Fishguard’s goals being smaller than the St. Florence girls were used to, they were unlucky not to score more as they had many shots that just missed the target.

The second half carried on much like the first, with St. Florence attacking and creating many chances, but were unlucky not to score. Connie, Charlotte, Emily, Fiona and Teigan all had shots that hit the side netting.

It wasn’t long before there was a goal when a really good shot from Charlotte found its way in. Charlotte got her second when a great pass from Emily gave her the chance to score.

There were also great performances from Florence, Ella, Teaghan, Marli and Nancy in defence to stop Fishguard getting a goal.

The game finished Fishguard 0 St. Florence 6.

When the game ended, the girls knew that they were 14 goals difference better off than Narberth and had to wait to hear their score. Unfortunately, Narberth had won 16-1, so finished the season on top of the league by one goal difference. Our girls would like to congratulate Narberth on their success.

While this was a shame for the girls after a brilliant first season, they can only be proud of how they have played and how committed they have been. They have finished with seven wins and three draws while playing some wonderful football which has been brilliant to watch. Well done girls. It has been great to see you develop your skills and confidence. We are all very proud of you.

Team: Ella, Emily, Fiona, Mabli, Alex, Teaghan, Nancy, Marli, Florence, Connie, Teigan and Charlotte.

Under 14s

The Under 14s (seen above) were playing their last game of a long and hard season. Having only had six players all season, it’s been difficult for them, but they have shown great team spirit and commitment to each other and have grown as a team and got better as the season has gone on.

Maddie, Kacy and Molly stepped up an age group and played brilliantly with their Under 14 team-mates.

Fishguard are a strong side, but the St. Florence girls gave them a really good game. Halle and Olwen were both unlucky not to score in the first half, while Molly, Hope and Jazz played really well in defence.

St. Florence were unlucky when Fishguard scored just before half-time to make it one-nil.

Fishguard made it two-nil in the first few minutes of the second half. St. Florence continued to play well, with Maddie winning the ball back and Kacy solid in defence. Delun and Jazz were in attack in the second half, and with Halle in midfield, they were unlucky not to score.

The girls have shown all season that they never let their heads go down and play to the final whistle and they can be proud of how they have played, with the Fishguard coach commenting on how much they have improved since the start.

With more players around them, they can now look forward to next season.

Team: Delun, Olwen, Jasmine, Halle, Hope, Maddie, Molly and Kacy.
