Local young footballers enjoyed fantastically fun Swans Community Trust Summer Kicks sessions at Kilgetty AFC last week (writes Sharron Hardwick).

The sessions were organised following Kilgetty Amateur Football Club becoming a partner club to Swansea City as part of their club engagement programme.

Hosted by Kilgetty AFC chairman, Lukas Gamble, the sessions were led by Swans City Community Trust’s community sport development officer, Stephen Greene and Swans community coaches Harry Thomas, Ceri Phillips, Craig Richards and Liam Elis.

All age groups from the Kilgetty AFC junior teams took part, and an invitation was extended to Tenby Football Club, to take up any remaining places. The number of places were restricted in line with FAW COVID-19 protocols.

“This was the first event held as part of our club partnership with Swansea City on their club engagement programme and it was fantastic to see the Swansea coaches out at Kilgetty working with our young players. All the kids really enjoyed it. Hopefully, we will be able to do it again in the October half-term,” said Kilgetty AFC chairman, Lukas Gamble.

Swansea City AFC’s registered charity, the Swans Community Trust, is at the heart of the club and at the heart of our local communities. The Community Trust gives the club the opportunity to work where they are needed, within South West Wales’ communities and Kilgetty AFC are now part of this valued work.

The junior footballers attending the sessions enjoyed fun technical activities, small-sided games, and competitions with prizes, all delivered by FAW qualified coaches in a safe and friendly environment.

Feedback from all of the Kilgetty coaches was that the players loved it and they pass on their thanks to Lukas and the Swans Community Trust team.

“We had another terrific Summer Kicks session at Kilgetty AFC! Plenty of smiles to be seen today! Thanks to everyone who took part,” shared the Swans Community coaches.
