Gold Cup and Silver Bowl

Sunday will be the start of Tenby’s Gold Cup week, good luck to all who are taking part in this year’s competitions and let’s hope the weather will be with us.

Pembroke Dock Ladies 6 pts.

Five Arches Ladies 0

Five Arches Ladies hopes of reaching pole position in the league all, but evaporated in the sun at Pembroke Dock last Tuesday. The 46 shots to 32 defeat was certainly a setback, but on the day, the Arches ladies, who are sponsored by Tenby House Hotel, lost to the better side.

With Helen away and Carol still suffering with back problems, changes had to be made. Gerry moved up to skip the rink of Margaret, Liz and Jan and were on track at 17 ends to win the game with a three-shot lead, but then disaster struck dropping 12 shots in the last four ends to lose the game 25 shots to 16.

Alison and her rink of Lynn, Meryl and Jo have been consistent all season, but it was not their day losing by 21 shots to 16 and were never to get in front during this five shots loss.

Pendine Ladies 6 pts. Five Arches Ladies 0

Another away game and another loss. Inexplicably form has deserted the Five Arches Ladies team losing for the second time in a week by the maximum six points to nil and by 39 shots to 29.

With six ends still to be played, the Tenby girls were ahead on both rinks and held an overall lead of eight shots, but they then suffered the same disastrous finish as experienced at Pembroke Dock dropping 18 shots and gaining just two.

Helen had Jan, Carol and Gerry in her rink and lost by 19 shots to 14. The girls had a poor start then picked up their game to get ahead only to lose it all at the latter stages.

It was a mirror performance by Alison’s rink of Margaret, Liz and Lynn losing finally by 20 shots to 15.

Tenby Arches Ladies are grateful for the continued support of Tenby House Hotel.
