Both men’s league matches had to be cancelled last Saturday due to the bad weather.

Saundersfoot at home to Five Arches was rearranged for earlier this week whilst St. Issells are due to travel to Neyland tomorrow.

LADIES COUNTY FINALS

The ladies section of the club once again excelled at the West Wales Ladies County finals day last weekend which took place at Pembroke Dock.

In the singles competitions, Club President Ann Lewis won the main event beating Katie Thomas of Whitland whilst Sandra Ingerson defeated Penny Brickle of the home club to win the Autumn Cup.

Ann then teamed up with Marion Evans, Gemma Amos and mum Stephanie to win the rinks with the all Saundersfoot pairs final of Steph and Gemma against Ann and Viv Edwards resulting in a win for Steph and Gemma by just two shots.

Ann and Viv also contested the final of the two wood pair’s competition, losing to Cally Jones and Sue Evans of Whitland.

WELSH BOWLING ASSOCIATION RINK FINALS

The winners of the Pembrokeshire County Bowling Association rinks competition, Graham Hughes, Dai Davies and Myrddin and Joe Dennis travelled to Llandrindod Wells last weekend to take part in the all Wales finals.

In the last sixteen, they gained a win by twenty six shots to ten over the Parc Y Dre four but just lost out to Pontrhydyfen in the quarter final by just two shots.

CREAM TEA

A strawberry cream tea was held recently at the club, organised by Christine Harris and her helpers and the club is grateful for their efforts in raising money for club funds.

CHARITY NIGHT

As an addition to last week’s Observer report of the charity bowls match held at the club and organised by Macky Brace, the money raised was donated to help horse riding for the disabled.

JOHN BADHAM SHIELD

Would members please note that the revised date for the above competition is now on Sunday, September 23.

If any member wishes to enter then a notice with details can be found on the competition notice board.

As this is the last day before the green closes for the winter (that was a quick summer) there will be a small buffet following the presentation of the shield to the winner.

BRIAN DEELEY GARDEN TROPHY

This year’s presentation to the member with the best kept garden on the green surrounds will take place in the clubhouse on Friday evening August 24.

FIXTURES

Tomorrow (Saturday) The Saundersfoot First Division team continue their pursuit of the league title with their penultimate game, away to Milford Haven.

The ladies of St Issells also play their female counterparts at the same venue with both matches commencing at 2 pm.

As stated above, the St Issells men will travel to play Neyland.

COUNTY ENTRY SHEETS

Although the 2018 men’s county competitions only reached their climax last month, entry sheets for next year’s tournaments have already been distributed to all the clubs and the Saundersfoot lists can be found on the county notice board.
