Well, after what must have been the wettest winter for many a year, here we are again ready to herald in the 2018 outdoor bowling season.

The ladies have spring cleaned the clubhouse, the gentlemen, Ken ‘the gaffer’ James, Paul Sneyd, Rod Bramhall, Peter Williams, Brian Dooley, Alan Rich, Roger Sneyd and others have finished the painting (and many other jobs), the fixtures have all been booked and the green has been prepared.

All we need now is some fine weather, so fingers crossed!

The official opening will take place tomorrow (Saturday), at 2 pm, with the traditional first wood being bowled by Martyn Williams BEM on behalf of the Saundersfoot Community Council.

Availability sheets for the first few games will be on the notice boards and treasurer David Davies will be only too eager to take membership subscriptions in the upstairs lounge.

Whether any bowling will take place on Saturday in the current climate (as I write, yes you’ve guessed, it’s raining) will have to be decided by the greens committee, but a convivial afternoon is promised anyway with a chat and a drink or two.

New members are always welcome and tomorrow would be a good time for them to attend this event to obtain more information.

Birthday Girl

Popular member Sandra Ingerson, fresh from a winter spent in Spain with Alan, (lucky devils), celebrated a special birthday last week.

No, I’m not telling you which one, as a lady never reveals her age, but congratulations on behalf of all her friends!

Men Versus Ladies

An innovation this year will be the above fixture, as a curtain-raiser to the season, which will take place on Saturday, April 14, so get your names down if you want to play in this friendly match.
