Members were saddened last week to learn of the passing of life member Brian Deeley.

Brian, who was 82-years-old had worked tirelessly for the club over many years and until illness prevented him could be seen most mornings at the green gardening or performing much-needed work on the green and clubhouse.

He was also a qualified coach, helping new and prospective members to learn the game of bowls and had been a long-time member of the committee, bar manager and club delegate to the Pembroke Men’s County Bowling Association.

He will be greatly missed and sympathy is extended to Ann, his sons and all the family.

The funeral was due to take place yesterday at Parc Gwyn Crematorium.

CLUB EVENTS

The annual Christmas prize bingo night took place last week and thanks are extended to all who attended the event, those who provided nibbles and the members who brought along prizes for the bingo and raffle.

The members’ Christmas party takes place tonight and a reminder that the club will be open on New Year’s Day for cawl and a few drinks.

The ‘Guess the Culprit’ evening will be on Friday, January 19, and the annual quiz on Thursday, February 15.

THANKS

May I give a big thank you to Neil, the editor of the Observer, and the reporters and staff for their continued support this year and wish them a merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.

Finally, of course, the same sentiments are extended to all the members and families of Saundersfoot Bowling Club.
