Saundersfoot entertained the retired bowlers club of Swansea last week and in a six rink mixed friendly gained a 69-shot victory.

On a warm afternoon, the result was secondary to the obvious enjoyment being had by all the players, many of whom passed favourable comments about the excellent bowling surface.

Top rink went to the four skipped by club vice-captain Sue Roden, although several others were not far behind with the villagers having only one losing rink.

Rink scores with Saundersfoot first and visitors skips only were:

Kath Williams, Rene Silcox, David Walters, Brian Dooley 27 Bill Rose 13.

Peter Williams, Roger Whittaker, Christine Ball, Christine Harris 29 Norman Ace 9.

Dennis Reed, Pam Bowen, Dennis Ball, Sue Roden 30 Derek Hole 9.

Lynne Reyed, Roy Harris, Rod Bramhall, Alan Rich 13 Peter Worseley 19.

Mike Oliver, Elaine Shaw, Sandra Ingerson, Neil Hensman 25 Ken Gabriel 13.

Ken James, Sue Dooley, Paul Sneyd, Jean Dezille 20 Graham Reynolds 10.

The final score was: Saundersfoot 144 Swansea 75

SAUNDERSFOOT 89 AVONVALE 148

The club played their second six rink mixed friendly in three days last Saturday against visiting tourists from Avonvale in Bristol, but any joy experienced from winning on the Wednesday was soon dissipated with the opposition winning by 59 shots.

Again, the weather was dry but humid and the fast green obviously suited the team from Somerset who took an early lead and never looked back.

Rink scores with Saundersfoot first and Avonvale skips only were:

George Cavell, Diane Rigden, Rod Bramhall, Paul Sneyd 9 I. Jenkins 27.

Peter Williams, Elaine Shaw, Billy Glynn, Jean Dezille 14 L. Pagett 23.

Ken James, Pam Bowen, David Walters, Graham Hughes 23 M. Ferris 17.

Val James, Roy Harris, Alwen Hughes, Brian Desmond 22 J. Wood 18.

Dennis Reed, Rene Silcox, Barrie Lee, Roger Whittaker 13 Phil Isles 28.

Kath Williams, John Amos, Mike Carr, Christine Harris 8 T. Watkins 35.
