Last Saturday, Pendine’s chairman and ladies’ captain welcomed around 30 members onto the Llanmiloe green, which since last autumn and over the winter months has been continuously attended to by greenkeeper Stewart K. T. to alleviate the dry patch scenario that occurred on the green late last summer. His dedication from September to the present month has been amazing and with the advice freely given to him by Prof. John Quinn, of Bowls International, has transformed the situation.
Reseeding and over-seeding have taken place during the cold and very wet winter, which has been very hard work and will have to continue through the coming months.
It was a delight to see young tender grass covering the green, which allowed members on a warm sunny day to have a 10-end roll-up and light refreshments thereafter.
Every Wednesday evening from 5-8 pm is practice and coaching night when anyone from the district is welcome to attend and will be given assistance in all bowling matters, be they male or female, young or of any age, when it can give pleasure and joy to individuals and families.
There are always refreshments available on this night to bowling and social members.
On Sunday last, the men of Pendine played a friendly versus Five Arches on Tenby’s Sutton Street green. It turned out to be a competitive and excellent practice match for the coming season for both teams, with the Five Arches pipping Pendine by four shots overall. It will no doubt be just as competitive when they meet home and away in the First Division over the summer months.
