Pembrokeshire Disabled Bowlers Club has been praised for gaining a prestigious award.

The club has received the Disability Wales insport ribbon award - which recognises clubs that develop inclusive provision, opportunity and practices to ensure that disabled people can access the level of participation and performance they require.

Angela Miles, the disability sport officer for Pembrokeshire County Council, was delighted to present the award to the members.

“This is a well-deserved accolade for Pembrokeshire disabled bowlers, who have worked extremely hard over the past few years getting the club’s policies and procedures in place,” she said.

The club, which offers both competitive and social opportunities, began in 1984 as a social afternoon to bring people together.

Over the years, it has grown to include more than 30 members. It is open to all adults with a disability and it also has a visually impaired rink.
