Tenby Arches Ladies v Pendine
Last Thursday, Tenby Ladies welcomed Pendine to their green on a beautiful evening. The men were also playing so the green was fully occupied and the noise level was somewhat higher than usual. On rink five, Margaret, Carol, Jan and Gerry took an early lead to be six-nil ahead at four ends, but Pendine were having none of that and picked up a three on the fifth end. Tenby managed to keep ahead, despite Jan bowling a wrong bias, but they got stuck on 17 points and did not score for the last five ends. Pendine took the opportunity to fight back and the final score was a too close for comfort 17-16 to Tenby.
We were delighted that Alison was able to play after being unavoidably absent for our previous games, and she was joined by Lynn, Gill and Jo on rink six. She clearly inspired her team as Tenby led by 20 shots to two after 13 ends. Pendine started to make a comeback and the final score was Tenby 28 Pendine 9. Welcome back, Alison.
Tenby Arches Ladies v Picton
Last Saturday, Tenby Ladies travelled to Haverfordwest to play Picton on a breezy afternoon. Again, the men were also playing and the atmosphere was lively. Some strong gusts of wind made play difficult at times, but the rain held off. Unfortunately, Meryl was unwell, so Katie stepped in at short notice - thank you Katie and get well soon Meryl.
Carol, Katie, Jan and Gerry got off to a good start on rink five and were 12-1 ahead after six ends. Picton then picked up two fours and the game changed completely. It was a very close fight and ended in an honourable draw at 19-all.
Over on rink six, Liz, Gill, Lynn and Jo had a close first half and the score was eight-all after 12 ends. Refreshed by tea, Tenby managed to pull away and picked up four on both the 15th and 18th ends. The final score was 19-9 to Tenby.
Finally, Tenby would like to thank the Tenby House for its continued support, it is much appreciated.

Five Arches 92 (12 pts.) St. Thomas 58 (2)
After a spirited game against Saundersfoot the last time out, we welcomed St. Thomas from Haverfordwest to our green on a cool spring bank holiday afternoon. St. Thomas were promoted last season and were expected to provide stern opposition.
Drawn again on rink one, Ashley, with James, Jonno and Mike, had an evenly balanced first half of the game, leading by nine shots to eight after 11 ends. However, picking up six shots on the next end ignited a shot scoring spree which ultimately led to a comfortable 25 shots to 15 win.
Webby, with Ken, Bill and Beano, also had a steady start, 11 shots to eight ahead after 11 ends. Nine shots in the next five ends created a healthy lead which allowed the rink to cruise to a 24 shots to 14 victory.
After their superb win in Saundersfoot, Neil and his rink of John, Tony and Steve also had a close first half. One shot behind after 11 ends, they led by one-shot after 17 ends, however, a fine finish by the St. Thomas four, gave them a 17 shots to 14 victory.
Finally, Simon and his rink of Viv, Dave and first time Five Arches player Tony had a storming win on rink four. All square after nine ends and 13 ends, the remaining eight ends belonged to Simon and his team, picking up two counts of five and numerous other scores to run out winners by 29 shots to 12.
Another good win for the Five Arches, next up, away to Milford tomorrow (Saturday).
