Young instrumentalists and vocalists from Pembroke School, last week took part in the 'Rotary Young Musician'competition.

There were a number of entrants in each category, with the winner of the instrumental category being violinist Eleanor Hodgson, while Rebecca Beynon won the vocal section.

All contestants were presented with certificates, with a small cash prize for the winners.

This was the first round of the 'Rotary Young Musician' competition and Eleanor and Rebecca will now go through to the area final for all Rotary Clubs in Pembrokeshire. This will be held at the Nantyffin on Tuesday, February 10, at 4.30 pm. The winners of the final will progress to the District final covering all 73 of the Rotary Clubs in South Wales.

Competition organiser, Rotarian Dennis Jones, thanked the school, teachers, judges and all the contestants for their effort and support.
