You can take the boy out of Tenby - but you can never take the Tenby Boxing Day Swim out of the boy... if it’s Dai Roberts, that is!

Dai, who for many years organised Tenby’s sister swim in Virginia Beach, USA, has not only swum in Tenby, but the Atlantic Ocean, the Falkland Islands and Afghanistan - where he took his plunge in a bucket.

So with well over 40 festive dips under his belt, he made sure he took the plunge on the bank holiday this year, even though he wasn’t close to the sea.

He enlisted three friends and together they braved the waters of the River Thames at Marlow, as our photo shows. Dai is wearing the piratical headgear.
