A Pembrokeshire primary school now has a colourful new entrance thanks to a group of school mums!
Golden Grove Community School in Pembroke has been brightened up with the addition of a brand new stained glass window at its front entrance.
The window is the work of a group of parents, who took part in a special Springboard course at the school this term.
The stained glass course was run by artist Pandora Hughes, who taught traditional stained glass techniques to students - Jacqueline Boswell, Simone Chatwin, Sharon Smith, Lisa Wheelhouse, Sharon Clague and Megan Jones.
Their finished design, which now adorns the school entrance, features images created by school pupils, who were asked to draw pictures of what the school meant to them.
Pandora Hughes said she had been overwhelmed by the response of the mums to the project and by the hard work they had put in.
"We worked extremely well as a team," she said.
Springboard advisor for Golden Grove, Shelley Holmes, who saw the work develop from scratch, said everyone had been amazed that they were able to do such a professional job.
Springboard co-ordinator, Laura Phillips said the project would stand the test of time.
"It demonstrates how, through learning, people can go from an 'I can't do that mentality' to an 'I can't believe I did that feeling!'" she said.
Springboard is a Learning Pembrokeshire - Pembrokeshire County Council's adult learning service - project, which runs a wide range of fun, free and exciting courses for adults and families.
Over 100 people recently attended a special Springboard celebration day to celebrate the achievements of all its learners from Golden Grove, Hakin, Fenton, Pembroke Dock and Pembroke Comprehensive schools.
Golden Grove headteacher Les Johnson said it had been an absolute delight to celebrate with all the parents, who had achieved so much both individually and with their children.
"The opportunities that Springboard provide for them are really quite remarkable," he said.
In 2012-13, Springboard ran a total of 141 different courses across their five partner schools with 986 adult enrolments.
