At a recent meeting of Whitland Town Council the following items were discussed.

The defibrillator had been installed in the external wall of RedKite Solicitors.

The lease for Whitland Abbey ruins had been reviewed and some questions had been sent to the Diocese as hopefully the final enquiries.

The discussions and information gathering regarding potentially taking on the ownership of Nasareth Chapel cemetery were ongoing.

The Council had been informed of the Great British Spring Clean and it was agreed that this would be co-ordinated within the community.

The project to provide a play map in the town was progressing well, with funds also being available to provide it online and to provide paper versions to be available in the town for visitors or residents.

The Council also agreed that as part of the ‘Town of Culture’ working with the Observer, they would put together a brochure to promote the town and highlight the Town of Culture events and all the Whitland has to offer.

The Council agreed to provide an external noticeboard outside the Library so that agendas, minutes and other Council information could be available to all 24/7.

The provision of a portable toilet at Bryngwenllian Playground was also deemed a success and it was agreed to continue to fund this for a further six months.

Interest in the establishment of a junior Council or forum had been expressed, and it was agreed to discuss this in a future meeting.

Residents had also raised a query about parking enforcement – this would be taken up with Carmarthenshire County Council.
