During May there will be a number of interesting displays in the library.
It’s National Crime Reading Month and Local and Community History Month so look out for book displays in the fiction and non-fiction areas respectively.
On Monday 13th May and Thursday 16th May the Soroptimists will have a display on Mental Health Awareness in the hallway outside the library; the Soroptimists are a voluntary organisation that work to improve the lives of women and girls throughout the world.
It is Dementia Action Week on 20th-26th May, so we will have display of related books in the Health & Wellbeing section of the Library.
Baby Rhyme Time is on every Tuesday morning in term-time at 10.30am for half an hour of stories and songs for babies and toddlers and their adults.
There’s no need to book for this, and there’s no charge, just turn up and enjoy the fun. If you have not been before, and you have driven to the library, then come a little early to get your parking permit sorted out.
There is a drop-in session every Monday morning 10-12, run by our Digital Champion Volunteer Roger, who is ready to assist you with any problems you may have with your smartphone, laptop or tablet computer. There’s no need to book and it’s free. If you have a more in-depth question for him, there are two bookable periods, also free of charge, one at 12-12.30pm and the other at 12.30-1pm.
There is also computing assistance on offer at Saundersfoot Library as our other Digital Champion Volunteer Simon will be there on Tuesday 7th and Tuesday 21st May 10am-1pm; it is still free but it is necessary to book in advance. Call Saundersfoot Library on 01437 776050 or Tenby Library to book.
If you are part of a voluntary or community group, it may be worthwhile dropping in for a chat with a representative from PAVS (Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services) to see how they can help you.
They will be in Saundersfoot Library on Tuesday 7th May. For more information or to book an appointment please phone PAVS on 01437 769422 or email [email protected].
We’ve had a good number of new books in this month. There are new novels by C.J. Box, Rosie Goodwin, Joanne Harris, Anna Jacobs, Alexander McCall Smith, James Patterson and Anne Perry. New non-fiction books include ‘The Secret World of Farm Animals’ by Jeffrey Masson, ‘Living with Allergies’ by Emma Amoscato, and ‘The Travel Writer’s Way’ by Jonathan Lorie. We also have the new DVD ‘Mary Poppins Returns’; DVDs can be rented for a week, with charges starting from £1.75, while books are borrowed for three weeks for free.
Orange recycling bags and food waste bags are also available for free at the library; just ask at the counter. Car parking permits are also available at the counter for library users; the car park is patrolled and cars not displaying a permit may get a parking fine.
For more information and for booking events, please call Tenby Library on 01437 775151 or 01834 843934 or email [email protected].
