Loving God - serving others

ADVANCE NOTICE

Thursday, March 13, from 4 to 5 pm - Les Isaacs (Ascension Trust).

Ascension Trust is a Christian inter-denominational organisation with a passion to empower individuals to work together within their local community and nation, to contribute positively to society and to improve the quality of life of the disadvantaged and vulnerable Ascension Trust is a charity and was started in 1993 by Rev. Les Isaac.

Ascension Trust also has a branch in Scotland. Rev. Isaac's mission is to empower churches to be effective as 'salt and light' in their local community, city and nation.

It is particularly well known for its Street Pastors initiative. Street Pastors is an inter-denominational church response to urban problems, engaging with people on the streets to care, listen and dialogue.

It was pioneered in London in January 2003 by Rev. Les Isaac, director of the Ascension Trust, and has seen some remarkable results, including drops in crime in areas where teams have been working.

There are now some 9,000 trained volunteers in around 250 teams around the United Kingdom. Each city project is set up by Ascension Trust and run by a local co-ordinator with support from Ascension Trust and local churches and community groups, in partnership with police, council and other statutory agencies.
