Sir,
Age Cymru Pembrokeshire have had a busy start to the year and desperately need more volunteers, particularly in the north and south of the county. Age Cymru Pembrokeshire is also looking for trustees. Anyone interested in helping is asked to please telephone Kay on (01437) 769972 to find out more.
For a small charge, the charity offers a nail-cutting service.
Other forms of help and information are available as a service to those over the age of 50. This includes carers support, befriending groups, hospital discharge and benefits advice.
It has come to our attention that those of you who have to undergo reassessment from Disability Living Allowance to Personal Independent Payment are being declined after assessors make a decision on reading your written application and visiting you at home.
The criteria for PIP is different to DLA. The forms are complicated. Advice should be sought before filling out these forms. Also please refer to The Disability Rights Handbook which is available from any of the county libraries. For a small fee they will give you a print out of all the relevant information needed to help you complete your PIP application.
Jane Slade,
Chief Officer.
